The Filosof Lamp is a little known Copenhagen gem designed by architect Lars-Erik Ejlers in 1990.
Lars-Erik Ejlers was inspired by Marcel Duchamp's idea of readymades when he designed the lamp. Its characteristic broad shade draws from the rounded form of a cymbal, while the cylinder mimics the function of a camera lens, directing the light downward with precision.
Every lamp is made by Danish craftsmen using a traditional metal spinning technique. The manual process allows them to give each lamp attention and care, giving each lamp a unique character and visible quality.
